My name is Melinda Carlisle Brackett and I'm an entrepreneur, an executive, a professional coach, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in San Jose. I have probably lived the life you are living here in Silicon Valley. I developed Silicon Valley Executive Advisory (SVEA) to address the very specific needs of professionals, their staff, their colleagues, and their families. My SVEA network of professionals includes Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, Psychiatrists, Addictions Specialists, Professional and Executive Coaches, and Life Coaches. If you are wary about seeing a therapist in San Jose, I want you to know that I understand why. The evolution of psychotherapy as a profession has resulted in confusion for the consumer. There are many qualified, talented therapists out there. Yet finding one can still be difficult. This is evident when clients call me after reading my bio; I can literally hear the relief in their voices - something akin to finally walking through the gates of the American Embassy in a foreign land - when they tell me they are grateful to speak with someone who understands their background. My clients are doctors, lawyers, CEOs, VPs, Engineers, technical professionals, administrators and Entrepreneurs who are clearly looking for someone who identifies with their lives, their work, and their identities as successful professionals. They want someone who will rapidly help them get to the heart of the matter, someone who isn’t afraid of them or intimidated by their success or title, and who understands their professional landscape. I Practice Psychotherapy and Executive Coaching: At Silicon Valley Executive Advisory, I integrate two complementary disciplines: Coaching, which is a future focused, strength based partnership, and Psychotherapy, which focuses on making sense of current emotional difficulty or healing the past. What coaching and psychotherapy have in common is that both modalities can, and often do address the present. Brief, solution focused, as well as some cognitive or behavioral therapies actually utilize coaching as part of the treatment. For therapists who practice these types of psychotherapy along with coaching, there is a potential to confuse the client; therefore, it is in your best interest to fully understand which service you are receiving, or if the service includes a combination of the two. At Silicon Valley Executive Advisory, we will speak openly about these differences so that you as a consumer have enough information to make an educated choice. When you engage in psychotherapy, you'll complete a clinical informed consent document, and, when you engage in a Coaching-Only Service at SVEA you will sign an agreement stating that you understand the relationship is not a therapeutic one. I will ensure adequate time is spent with each and every client before any services are delivered, helping you determine what service is best for your needs. Once you are completely informed, you will decide which service is right for you. As a seasoned Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Executive Coach, I have integrated years of professional coaching and counseling experience into a unique style of work with my clients.
